For security reasons I don't wanna run repair_settings.php tool inside the root of my forum folder. I have created a new folder called admins inside my forum folder and I have moved that file there where I can use it with my other admins. However when I load it up on my browsers none of the settings are recognised. How can I modify it please?

Sir Osis of Liver

Really not necessary, repair_settings.php is only in forum root for a few minutes when you use it, then must be removed or admins will see an obvious error message when forum loads.  It doesn't work in different directory because file paths are relative to it's location in root, not absolute.  You would have to find and change all to absolute links.

if you leave repair_settings.php on your server ANYWHERE it leaves you open to being hacked. DONT do it.

Kindred

Just use it, as designed and delete it. No security risk

Thank you'all for your advice but that ain't what I asked for. can someone please actually help me by telling what changes to make to that file?

Kindred

That's not how this works.

It's not our job to just do what you want,  if it's a bad idea.

It's our job to get you the best result and to stop you from doing something unnecessary or stupid.

There is no need to alter the repair_settings.php script. It works exactly as intended and, when used as intended is secure.
