smf latest comments on wordpress sidebar

Happy new year everyone.

Long time user of SMF. Been away for three years. 

I am thinking of adding an smf forum to a wordpress site.  I know wordpress plays badly with other scripts.  I will keep my smf database separate. 

But I did want to know, can I insert a latest posts/comments rss feed on the sidebar of my wordpress end of the site.

So that folk can see on my main site, the latest happenings over on my smf forum.

Seems straightforward enough, do-able right?

Looks like you could use that plugin to integrate a SSI function into a shortcode and then into a widget.
