It might, if anyone was going to take it that seriously. The source is well known though. Can always link to it if anyone is worried.

Perhaps a few sentences about what is left to be done at this point would help pacify the rabid masses. ;)

All we know at the moment is that the last remaining blocker was fixed 3+ days ago and at that point all that was left was for Norv to "press a few buttons". I understand it's not "a 10 second process" but I wouldn't have imagined it was a 3+ day one either after the last blocker bug was fixed. Can you elaborate? Thanks. :)

Having seen the process before, it does take a few hours for all the steps of making a release. It might wait until the weekend when enough free consecutive hours are available to actually do that.

Oh i see. :( I am eager for the release. >.> After its release, can i able to install old mods in it? I mean those mods that compatible to RC 2, 3, 4 and 5. :)

Illori

those mods that work on rc4 and rc5 should install on 2.0 with little to no problem with the use of version emulation, those earlier versions may or may not install cleanly.

WhiteEagle

If that's the case, I've got quite a few mods to wait for upgrades before I can upgrade when it comes out. :(
I fold for team 52482. Do you Fold@Home?

I don't understand, what that means?

Illori

it is a joke, the announcement has not been made and the screenshot is not a real one.

Fustrate

It would be stickied, and the old one would've been locked and unstickied :P

Good to hear 2.0 will finally be released soon. RC5 is epic as it is, so the full version must be more epic! :D

See how difficult the release process is; you messed it up even at the easiest step. :P

Easy? You know how hard checking those boxes and choosing the sticky/unsticky option is.

It sure is hard (see above) however, it's probably the easiest step considering the difficulty of others.

Well, it's hard if you are not using quick moderation. ;D

u guiz obercomplicates things.

upload SMF2.0.zip to FTP and link to download.

Dur re-lease be done! O:)

But really, I don't understand why some people get so tied up about this release. It really isn't that much different from RC5 as far as I know. Personally I would want the release as stable as possible for gold, but everyone knows "gold" doesn't mean bug-free. Look at others out there and how many x.y.Z there often are. Granted some of them aren't really just fixing bugs but also including improvements, in speed/stability/compatibility/etc.

Yeah, it's almost the same as RC5, but it fixes one critical bug and few minor bugs.

Really? So are you saying that final will still say
QuoteNote: As this is in development, we do not recommend running SMF 2.0 RC5 on a production site.
on the download page?

Those of us who took heed of that warning when looking for software to run a site where risk was unacceptable have been waiting for a very long time for a proper release.

Burridge

Because even though RC5 is classed as stable, it's still a RELEASE CANDIDATE. Therefor that warning is there so people know that they shouldn't EXPECT full functionality from it. (At least I think that's why, please correct me if I'm wrong).

That line is there to make sure people don't come running back screaming "DURR YOU BROKE MA FORUMS I HATE U GUYZZZZ" every few hours.
