dlattach spam bots bringing down site?

This was the last activity late last night before my site went down due to max connections in MySQL.  I'm wondering if I need to install more anti-spam mods or set up a proper robots.txt file?
Update:  I've just installed the Bad Behavior mod

bad behavior  is a good mod, also try butchs forum firewall http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2815
ZBBlock is also an excellent add on for preventing all sorts of server nasties http://www.spambotsecurity.com/ [nofollow]

Or actually... understanding what is going on would help even more. It's not spam bots, it's getting *avatars*. Every single avatar on a default SMF install is run through action=dlattach.

Go to the Servers & Configuration board and see the '24 things you can do to make SMF faster' list - tip #1 will change that for you.

I've done that and I'm still getting the errors

I'm experiencing the same problem with ad management mod ... on RC5 :-(
I guess it's a language problem ? Are you running smf in a foreign (non-english) language ?
