Thinking ... I know people that were thinking it would be released this summer. ::)

how long must we wait? :)
The team is working hard on getting RC2 out as soon as possible, in the discussion boards a lot of discussion is taking place on bugs, Curve and optimization. So in short, when its ready. I won't expect a huge delay but I don't know when it will be done(And as a matter of fact, no one does).

I fully understand why the standard answer is "when it's ready" but would appreciate an indication of likely timescale for release. I'm currently working on a totally new website and forums (converting from phpBB2) which is due to go live around Jan/Feb next year. If SMF 2 is released I'd like to go with that from the start rather than upgrade later (the Curve theme will work perfectly for me so it means I don't have to mess about with other themes in the interim). How likely is it that SMF2 will be ready for a live site by then?

We can't give you a timescale, it is ready when it's ready.

That said, RC2 should not be too long - though only the devs can make the call as to when that will be - and RC2 is pretty usable already (since we use it here)
Holder of controversial views, all of which my own.
