ive seen something like this in phpbb a few years ago here is how it worked.

this would work with the shop mod.

could be used for any sport with 2 teams or even individuals competing.

example: week 5 nfl football

admin would setup teams

giants vs cowboys
bears vs packers

etc... members would pick their team and place a bet...

admin would go back in fix results and mod would update winners,payouts and standings...

can anyone make something like this for smf? it worked great in phpbb,but im now addicted to smf.only there was a handful of mods i enjoyed from phpbb.

If your talking about actual payouts of actual cash. That would likely put off many mod developers as it may fall foul of US anti-gambling laws (if they were from the USA).

Not sure how he mieans this..but I would LOVE to see this mod made.   Would be great for many things if the options were left open..  Example:

My site is reality tv based.   We play games during the reality tv show seasons.  virtual survivor, virtual big brother, etc...   A mod where the players could make their picks, place bets (bet points, etc.. not actual cash) and then the moderator/admin in charge, would update the 'game' with results..  in football, would be winner/loser, in survivor, would be tribe that won/lost, person evicted, etc... 

Point would be given or taken based on the players choices.  Then at the end of the season, a winner would be named based on the results.. Great for all sorts of things...

If any mod creator would like to tackle this, I would LOVE to help out with input for what our site could use, option wise....

no absolutly not real money,just for fun on the forums,their was also a gambling mod in phpbb that also wasnt real money but like shop credit we have something like that... i wouldnt even care if worked with the shop for credits but for standings, ya know kind of for bragging rights.anyway im sort of doing something like this on my forum now,of course i have to do all the work ugh lol... but the way im doing it is with custom pages so at least the members could see the standings and picks...

spectropro thats exactly the way ive seen it and would be great for smf i still have the mod on the other site wish i knew how to convert or whatever to do to make it work with smf.
