Mod Site Package Parser

If you check out the customization sites you'll probably notice a few changes. The biggest is the addition of a package parser to the modification site. Instead of having to upload modification to an external package parser you can now do it within the mod site. The package parser should also work with all mods (mods written in boardmod format, etc). If you find any that don't work quite right please let us know. :)

In addition to the package parser there are also a few other changes. We've changed the way unsafe theme and mod reports are handled, but the only difference you'll notice from the user standpoint is a bigger box to provide details. The only other visible change that I can recall is some added links on the mod site that shows mods compatible with a certain version.

If you find any bugs, have any comments or have any suggestions please let us know. We're always working to improve the site.

Enjoy!

Package Parser will indeed come in handy.. I guess I won't need mine soon on my site  :D

Find them bugs (so I have something do to when I don't feel like approving your customizations) :P

Nice additions! I'm sure the package parser will come in handy for a lot of people. :)

Pretty good additions, specially the package parser and the links for mods of a specific version. Thanks a lot.

Why don't you make the package parser detect which versions it can provide instructions for automatically?
"Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise."

Could be done, however that would require storing the version specific files are for in the modification site (which I'm not saying can't be done).

It would be better as it is, because what if it says it only installs for 1.1.4 but yet it would work with 1.1.5?
This way it doesn't break things.

No it's not better as it is because most of the options are useless. And... it doesn't even do what you say, it comes up with an error message (without the site layer too!)

The site layer issue will be fixed when SMF is updated here. It was a SMF bug with how it should handle errors when using SSI.
Though I guess the page could only show options that the mod author has checked saying it supports. Wouldn't be to hard to do I think since we already got the versions and just need to clean it out while its going through the loop.

Very smart move and that should lower the amount of questions around here asking how to manual install a mod. ;)

Nice work!

Would it be possible to make each change a mod requires have an ID we can link to (perhaps even include links on the page). This way we could like to the specific part of the page with theme specific edits, for example.

Sounds reasonable. Just to clarify do you mean every single edits or the just each file?

We all wish that was possible. :P

Hmm, only for each file I think. You already have the headers (filenames) so you wouldn't be changing it too much.

This thing is a godsend. I have the same nitpicks about what versions appear, and it'd be nice to select them a bit better. But it's definitely better than the external package parsers, which growl and bark at the language files.
