Add Attachment in PM.
« on: December 30, 2003, 05:00:13 PM »
This would be really nice feature.  It think I've had about 5000 occasions where I need to send a member a image or something by PM, and I have to upload it to a web server and then put it in the message.  To be able to attach it would be awesome.

I agree

but I'd like to ask for a permission for accounts to have this feature, cause I don't want members attaching tons on files to their PMs... I already have tons of megs used up with the messages alone :P

If its implemented, it should be a permissions, its too risky in my oppinion, what if a libelous pic is attached that the admin cant check - the members should use email.

Probably something that should be a mod?

oh - you mean like "dodgy" pics. that's true. But if admin had any reason to suspect this he could easily check the pictures himself by download and renaming them

Well, they could attach any pic they want to a post, or put in on another server and send a pm with it embeded, so I don't see the issue there??

^ I think it's the point that if they stick it in a post a moderator will see it. And that you are personally liable for any images that may be uploaded to your server whereas a link to someone else's server is not your problem.

Personally I'd love the idea and I know I can trust my users. However, if I ran a porn site with a forum then I would be concerned. Luckily I am not a porn baron.

I would really like if it was possible to attach an attachment to outgoing personal messages.

... but if you ran a porn site... then you probably wouldn't care... your server would already have a bunch of pictures already as bad as any thing that might be attached...  :P

oh... and I too like this idea... permission based of course.

This feature, then, is included?  If so, as of what version?

attachements in pm's

i think a nice feature, or at least mod would be to have attachements for pm's and then also be able to set attachment permissions for pm's too.
