Philosophy aims at the logical clarification of thoughts. Philosophy is not a body of
doctrine but an activity. A philosophical work consists essentially of elucidations.
Philosophy does not result in 'philosophical propositions', but rather in the clarification of
propositions. Without philosophy thoughts are, as it were, cloudy and indistinct: its task is to make them clear and to give them sharp boundaries.

BMW-Guy

If he really pulls this off, more power to him, and I'll recomend people to his site, but like I said, he has a very long, long way to go before he ever reaches that point.  ;)

An install script would be great, i have one for YaBBSE which you upload 2 files and run the script, very cool, but a smf one would be the best script on the net.

Or he is being realistic and doesn't think that you can safely provide what you want to with any longevity and therfeore risk loosing the data of your users boards.

Look, if I'm afraid of anything here, it's what's likely to happen to you and your customers. I'm offering you impartial advice based, like Ben's, on years of experience and a fair grasp of the issues involved. So please don't suggest (even as a joke) that we're trying to 'compete' with you because, quite frankly, we've both got more sense. Now, of course you know better because you're so young and full of yourself, but we've seen countless hosting wannabe lemmings and 'programmers' here before and I'm afraid the blueprint fits you like a glove!

And don't forget allowing the owners of the boards to see the database password and so forth wouldn't be the smartest idea. But man you really need to go through and fix the 534212424547564 typing errors in that paragraph.. or blob of letters put together ;)

who cares if they see the db password, each board will have its own db and they won't know the url to phpmyadmin. :P

Wow, some people definately don't like Proboards....

I like them for many reasons.

But lets get some things straight;
It's definately not cheaply made, and/or crappy.
It's highly customizable, you jsut look at the main stuff, there are TONS of scripts and codes to make it exactly what you want.
Its not slow at all... That's ludacris (spelling?)
A LOT of Proboards have NEVER been hacked...
The maker of the forum is Patrick Clinger, whom made it many years ago, and didn't copy off of anything...

So basically everything that has been said about it is either an opinion, or false... Don't lie to people, they might actually beleive you.

morph

How do we know that you're not lying?

Its the internet, what do you expect.

Coming soon!

Proboards suck. SMF is a god compared to Broboards.

Although I happen to know for a fact that much of proboards... let's use the words... "coincided strongly" with YaBB because of his previous affiliation.  Since then, it has undergone many changes, and is definiately a separate script by now....

And also... tons of VBScripts doesn't mean didley or that it's not slow.... :P.

I'm locking this... not really fruitful for some person to come by and accuse the team members and other people posting in this topic of lying when they are, for the most part, telling the truth - even if it is biassed truth.  I suggest you read your own words and play devil's advocate.
