Upgrading from 1.1.11 to 2.1.4

Hi,

About ten years ago I decided to give up on the forum because most of the discours was on social media.
Now I want to bring the forum back. Back then I used SMF 1.1.11. I still have all the original files and the database. Unfortunatetly I can't get it back-up.

My original intention was to upgrade to 2.1.4. Is this still posible eventhough I can't open the original forum, but everything is still there?

The 2.1.4 upgrade package is supposed to upgrade a 1.1 database directly to 2.1, but never tried it.  May sure you have a local backup of the forum files and database, give it a go.  If it fails, you can try upgrading in steps - 1.1.11 > 1.1.21 > 2.0/2.1.  1.1.x does not support php versions higher than 5.4, it won't run in php 7/8.

Yes, that's possible. Make sure to upgrade your php as well so it's compatible with Smf 2.1. as well. On how to perform an upgrade please see the following link:
