"Recent Topic Block" for TinyPortal

Hello Community.

I am a long time user of SMF, thank you so much for the discussion forum software and add-ons. I am shutting down my flagship site of 17 years and I am working with another group to help them spin up a site.

My old site was SMF 2.0119 running SimplePortal

The new site is SMF 2.1.3 running TinyPortal 2.2.2

On the old site, Recent Posts /Topics would only show posts & topics that the members was authorized to view. The problem with our new site is that Recent posts show all recent posts including those on boards off limits to certain members. The thing we liked about SimplePortal is that the list of recent items was dynamically built to only show each member what they were allowed to click and view. With our current configuration, we are generating some confusion as board are off limits for many people when they click and our preference would be to only show each member posts that are able to click on and view.

Is this doable? I have looked through the menu options but I am not technical and cannot find out how to accomplish this.

What you describe is not something that smf would ever do.  All official mods respect smf permissions. Therefore no one would ever see something that they don't have permission to access.

So, something has broken your smf, very seriously.

What mods do you have?

Thank you for the quick reply. The users see the topic show up in the list but when they click on the topic, it shows the message "The board you are looking for appears to be missing or off limits to you." Just want to clarify that they do not see the actual post, just the header or topic in Recent Topics block.

Go into the board in admin, where you set the groups that can see it, and hit save.

The permissions storage got reworked between 2.0 and 2.1 and the upgrade doesn't always nail this correctly - but forcing a resave in the relevant boards should fix it.
