Just experienced this error on my site SMF 2.1.4

For future reference, it would be better to post a new topic about an issue that you are having, rather than bumping a 2 year odd topic.

Sounds like you've seen the previous topic, none of us were able to replicate the problem on clean install.  Have you tried that?  Would indicate a server issue.

I think it's the same bug - the symptoms were the same in both times, database query fails when the content ends in the *same smiley*, and points to some kind of bug in the query escaper.

I am able to recreate it on SMF 2.1.14
