Hi,

I am beginning the process of upgrading my SMF 2.0.12 forum (It is about time!). My intention is to try out the upgrades one at a time on a copy of my forum. In order to prepare for the exercise, I have created a copy of the entire forum directory and renamed it with "_test" added in the directory name. I have also made a copy of the xxxxxx_bid1608604251649.sql forum database, again, with an added "_test" to the file name. In the Settings.php file, I have manually changed the directories to point to the new test directories. Finally, I have created a new test sub-domain that points to the test root directory. Trying out the new sub-domain address, everything looks to be operational on the test forum.

Now, here is where I am confused. In the phpMyAdmin database management tool, I also see a XXXXXX_smf_admin_info_file database. I have found little information on the purpose of that database, and how to deal with it for my test. What is its purpose? It has 10 times the size of the forum database... Making a working copy would not work, as it seems that I have no control on that database name, and it is not referenced in the Settings.php file. So what should I do with it? I do not want to mess around with that database and break my real forum!

I see there is also a smf_admin_info_files table in the forum database. What is the link between that table and the XXXXXX_smf_admin_info_file database?

I thank you in advance for your support,

Bert.

There is only one database in a forum install.  smf_admin_info_files is the first table in the database.  There shouldn't be a smf_admin_info_files database unless you or your host created it.

??? Really weird. The forum was ported over from a previous hosting company to the current one by the latter. I will delete that database then. Surely simplifies the process!

Thanks,

Bert.
