I gather it's something to do with ipV6. I'm running MySQL 5.7.13, and the latest install of smf 2.0 I think it is. Not the development one.

SMF 2.0 does not support ipv6. http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3051 is a good start at adding it.
