Hi all,

Just a quick question I've managed to get my new host to copy my site from one server to the new one, but now i have 2 days worth of posts, and pictures on the old server which i would like on the new one, not to mention  about half a dozen new members,  do i just copy the data base files via PhpMyadmin ?? or do i need to copy anything else??

Cheers guys

Colin

Yep, you can just take a dump of the old database and import it into your new one. Remember to use Repair Settings

For images, you'll need to copy the new files from the attachments directory on the old server to the new server.

Depending on how the images were added, that is. If they were added using the img tags you are fine, but if they were uploaded as attachments then you will have to perform the steps above.

Brilliant, Thanks for the Replies,

What about Mods? Would they normally work or would i have to re install??

Assuming the files are transferred accross and unchanged then you won't need to re-install the mods.

Out of interest how big is your database ? If it's very large then you might have an issue exporting it. Try it in PHPMyAdmin first.

If it's big then consider using something like MySQlDumper  It's a god send  ;)

Its fairly big i guess 13,000 posts and around 100 members, I'm trying to use the CPanel Backup and Restore feature, could there be a quicker way?

Colin

Relatively that really isn't too big of a forum. It shouldn't take very long to backup using the cPanel utility.
