I wont go in to the details about the moderator accidentally deleting his account.

I've already done some digging and see that you can use the function "Attribute all posts to another account" from a deleted account to a newly created account in the forum maintenance area?  Is this correct and is there anything to watch out for?  The deleted account just shows as a guest account now. We've already got the mod set up with a new account.

I've never had to use this before so am not sure what to expect.

It should be pretty straight forward, I've done this before but it was a while ago already.
What you should expect to see is all posts matching your criteria being added to the member specified.

It only gives me a couple of options for the from to the target.  Email and username.  I don't think that the deleted account has an email address linked to it anymore so that leave one option.  That does sound straight forward.  :D

it should always have an email address associated unless you modified things to remove that. check the guest posts as admin, it should have the envelope icon to click that will give the admin the email address.

That worked flawlessly.  Much easier (and faster) than I expected.

Out of curiosity, after this has been run, is it possible to change the username (not the displayed, but the actual login name) back to the original?   He would like to be able to login under his original username.

It's not that big of a deal. This is more of a curiosity.

An admin can do it (just go to the profile, account settings), but if I remember correctly it requires reactivating the account and possibly changing the password to get in after that, so it carries a certain amount of risk - If you can communicate with your moderator outside of the forum somehow, I'm sure you are able to figure it out though.

Awesome.

Thanks for all your help.

I'll talk to him and see how important it is.  If he thinks it is we'll work something out.
