Cannot download modification updates directly from the admin panel

Hi. Again, unable to download modification updates using the "Modification Update Version Checker", I get an error:

You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory, or one of the files in it, is not writable!

There was also such an error once, but @vbgamer45 announced that @SleePy has fixed this bug.

All the bug fixes for Smf 2.1.4. will be included in the new release, 2.1.5. In the meantime you can try to apply the bug fix manually.

? I think there is some confusion here : the problem mentioned is related to the functioning of the mod site here.

This was working a while ago but stopped working. So I doubt this is related to SMF versions...

That error is usually caused by something on your end though, not something on this end of things.

I think it's been established for a while that there's some sort of issue with the SM server allowing the connection to download packages using this package manager 'feature'.

ok so that is a mod by @vbgamer45 not SMF feature itself so it is a mod issue, best keep speaking to the mod creator.

I guess there's a confusion here, the MOD doesn't add this feature to download packages, it's an existent feature in the package manager that the MOD attempts to use.

That is correct existing feature. You can check on your smf forum and try to download new packages from the package server.

The "Packages directory is not writeable" error is something related to the configuration of the server that SMF is installed on, not something on this end though.

It's possible it is our end. Our firewall has been a bit mean lately. If you can send me a PM with your server IP or link to SMF install, I can look at our logs and see if it was caught.

FYI, I just installed the Mod Version Checker in a test environment & it seems to be working.
