I'm not sure if this is a bug, or just a suggestion but...
After making a post, rather than taking the person to the board they posted in, take them to the post they made

It has always been this way and a simple visit to the profile to enable the option in layout will change it.

You can modify the template to make it beave like you want

There is an option in your profile to make it send you back to the post after posting. There's no need to modify the template to do that.
